Vint & York

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you would know that the eyewear industry is slowly being taken over by Warby Parker, whose purpose was to create designer quality frames at a fraction of the price.  Obviously, the world liked their idea because they have blown up in the past year.  It’s hard to not think of them when you think of eyewear.  In fact, I happen to have a pair myself and I love them!

Now with an idea that great and successful, it was only a matter of time before someone else got a hang of the idea and made it uniquely theirs.  Enter Vint & York.  Same basic premise but specializing in vintage (1920’s) inspired eyewear!  And given many peoples current infatuation with vintage, I think this is a great idea.  I’ve pictured a few of my favorites above, but they also have some great women’s frames!

Unfortunately, I don’t have my own pair yet (its planned for the future) so I can’t speak from personal experience, but I feel confident that they will be a high quality product.  They also have a Frame Trial program where they send you 5 frames to try on at home for a week to make sure you make the right choice and that you love your vintage inspired eyewear as much as they do. I’m expecting to see great things from them (no pun intended) in the near future.  To check them out or to get your free Frame Trial, head on over to VintandYork.com!

Walk the Line

Walk the line… or track, whatever you want to call it! These pictures were actually taken a while back when my family was in Napa for my sisters’ birthday.  It was a beautiful day and I couldn’t ask for a better backdrop.
So lets talk about the clothes, this is a bit on the edgier side for me compared to my usual preppy looks, but I like it.  The shoes dress the look up while the linen shirt keeps it from being too dressy as well as keeping me cool.   I think these are one of my favorite pairs of shoes, which is rather unfortunate given that I will probably have to put the away for summer, but back to the current. I loved the way they looked with my Zara jeans that have a stripe down the side.  The stripe adds a pop of color and is pretty unexpected. It was a nice finishing touch to the outfit.
What do you guys think? Do you like stepping out of your comfort zone sometimes?

After Hours

If there were one thing I’ve had to learn recently, it would be the skill of dressing an outfit down.  During the day, I work a 9-5 job in a small office cubicle and at night I don’t always want to look all buttoned up.  So what better way to dress an outfit down than unbuttoning your shirt and throwing on a hat!  It makes the entire look a bit funkier even though I’m still in my chinos and brogues.  Other easy ways to dress an office look down would be to un-tuck your shirt, roll up your sleeves or even bring a change of shoes (shoes make a HUGE difference in the overall feel of an outfit). Lucky for me I stumbled across my old trucker hat a few days ago and was able to put it to good use!
What do you guys think? What’s your favorite way to dress down an office look?

California Sun

I’m proud to give you guys my first outfit post on my new blog! This is a very exciting time and cant wait to show you guys some of my ideas.

Now who doesn’t love a bit of that California sun on a breezy spring day? This outfit is a bit brighter than I usually do, but I guess the sun inspired me a bit.  I actually had my clothes lying around from a few previous days and like the way they looked together to I snatched ‘em up and put them on!  The bright polo is a great piece for spring and summer and is sure to get you noticed.  If you haven’t got on the camo trend yet, it’s not too late. Camouflage has set itself up to be a must have for the upcoming seasons, and a good pair of pants will transition thru out the seasons with ease.  Finish is off with some blue suede shoes and you got yourself a perfect spring/summer look!

What do you guys think of yellow? Is it going to be another summer staple?

Polo: Express , Pants: Zara , Shoes: Aldo
