Denim and Coral

This is a pretty simple outfit for a casual workplace.  Being a courier, I am in and out of the office a lot and actually have to deal with the heat.  When the temperature reaches over 100 degrees, shorts are a must!  I went for a dark denim shirt to hide any perspiration that might occur and of course, roll the sleeves.  Blue also happens to go great with the color of my shorts.  Then I simply finished it off with a brown belt and shoes, threw on a few bracelets and called it a day!
What do you guys think? How do you keep cool?

What I have on:
Shirt: Burberry Brit , Shorts: Gap , Shoes: Skin , Belt: Topman , bracelets: ASOS

Surprise!!... Ok, so this isn’t really a surprise, but I just wanted to let you guys know that I haven’t forgot about you!  The past two weeks have been extremely hot, yet somehow refreshing.  Something about the heat makes you not want to do anything but swim and eat popsicles and if you aren’t doing that, you stay inside where there is air conditioning.  It’s like a heat blizzard, you’re pretty much trapped by the heat, and I actually quite like that phrase…. Heat blizzard.
Anyways, I have been using my time to refocus and revamp Chronicles of cloth so look forward to some cool new “things” in the near future!  Oh, and posting will be back to normal starting Monday so be sure to check back! :)
p.s. - Hope you enjoyed the little preview!

Brand Lookout: Generic Surplus

I am a strong believer that you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes and that shoes can essentially make or break an outfit.  So obviously, footwear is important to me.  Throughout my years, I’ve gathered a small collection of shoes and I’m constantly searching for new brands and new styles to fit in to my collection.  Generic surplus, however, has found its way into my closet more than a few times.  Their shoes are versatile and more importantly, comfortable!

Generic Surplus is a Los Angles based that was founded as an extension of The Generic Man.  Their goal was to take the influence of the urban landscape of LA and blur the lines between sneaker and shoe.  As they put it:
“Generic Surplus celebrates personal identity and is the ideal footwear for the man who is confident enough to reject conventionality.”
Read as: classic styles with twists.  Their collections are creative, bold and individual, and with recent collaborations with fashion houses such as Comme de Garçon, Mollusk and Obey, I’m sure there will be plenty more of their shoes being added to my collection.  Here are some of my current summer must-haves:

Red Hot Heatwave

Hello again everyone! I don’t know where you guys are located, but here in the central valley, we have been experiencing a lovely heat wave (complete with over 110 degree weather).  During these kinds of temperatures, it’s best to stay somewhere with air conditioning!

On the plus side, since I’ve been pretty cooped up inside the house (unless to swim or go somewhere else with A/C), I actually moved my bedroom! It’s not all that exciting, but my new room is slightly larger and it fits a bigger bed, and given my height… bigger is always better.  My new room also has a built in shoe rack, which is rather exciting.  It is cool to be able to see all of your shoes at one time.
Now the hard part is trying to figure out where to put all of my miscellaneous items that were in the crevices of my old room!

So what have you guys been up to the past week?

What to Wear on the Fourth of July

It is officially July, which means that it’s time to get the fireworks ready because the Fourth is just around the corner.  The Fourth of July is one of the few days when it is acceptable to be in all red, white and blue from head to toe.  I’m talking matching everything to each other to the point where you start looking like a walking flagpole.  Though I don’t recommend having a flag print on every piece of clothing you decide to wear, you may get a few high-fives if you decide to do so.

I would say if you want to be patriotic but not go overboard, stick with one flag for the outfit and keep the rest of it toned down.  You can even add different shades of blue and red to tone it down even more.  Here are some of my top red, white and blue picks:

Chubbies 'Mericas

The ‘Mericas aren’t necessarily swim trunks, but I’m sure that they will do fine in or out of water.  The Bonobos are for if you planning on being in water all day.  To dress it up, pair with a light blue button-up and a pair of boat shoes, or dress it down with a white tank, blue espadrilles and snapback!
Creative Recreation
Speaking of espadrilles, this creative rec pair adds a funky twist on a summer classic.  These shoes are perfect for a backyard BBQ or a day at the beach and you can get plenty of use out of them before summer is over.

Urban Outfitters
Fact: Denim counts as blue.  So wear this denim vest over a tank and throw some red into the rest of your outfit and you’ll be ready to rock out!
This shirt is great because it doesn’t scream America.  It can give you a nice casual approach to the red white and blue but it can also be worn on a later date.  If you go with a shirt like this, don’t be afraid to throw it on with a pair of ‘Mericas (if you are looking for a flag print shirt, I would recommend Urban Outfitters or ASOS).

Tevin Vincent

Don’t forget to accessorize! This is where you have the chance to really go all out and show just how dedicated you are to America!  Sunglasses are a must for the Fourth of July and Tevin Vincent makes some awesome pairs that have red or blue reflective lens.

And if all of this is too much for you, you can always just wear a flag onesie to keep it simple :).
Go America!
